The Dan McCarty Middle School project is a replacement for existing Academic classrooms. Mr. Bush, the project manager, was responsible for design, production, project coordination and maintaining working relationships with consultants and construction manager. The production of working drawings was performed under a tight schedule with close coordination with subconsultants and the construction manager. The design of the facility was based on the concept "control and separation". The objective a healthy environment for learning, by maintaining supervision of all students at all times and reducing the noise level during classes. The academic building was laid out in such a way to incorporate these major concerns. Locating the bathrooms adjacent to each classroom and bending the axis of the building provided supervision and control of student flow. Additionally, the building is site specific addressing all adjacent buildings and views from the new buildings.
